C3-Symmetrical lanthanide podates organized by intramolecular trifurcated hydrogen bonds

Abstract

The protonated tripodal podand [L6 + H]+ forms stable and organized monometallic podates [Ln(L6 + H)]4+ where LnIII is facially nine-coordinated by three wrapped unsymmetrical tridentate binding units. An unusual trifurcated hydrogen bond assists the organisation of the covalent tripod.
