A fun collection of 50 chemical
'egg races' for 11-19 year-olds. Students are provided with some standard
apparatus and 'junk' items with which to solve various problems within certain
time limits. Designed with enjoyment in mind and to enhance problem-solving and
teamwork skills the book was written by teachers for teachers. Many activities
link to the UK National Curriculum.
Each egg race has a student sheet
setting out the problem and a teacher's guide listing apparatus and advice on
problem solving. This book is excellent for extending normal class work and
chemistry club activities. The activities are also grouped according to the
skills practiced, for example, identifying unknown substances or theoretical
problems.
