Combustion synthesis and properties of fine-particle dielectric oxide materials

Abstract

Fine-particle dielectric oxide materials, MTiO3, MZrO3(where M = Ca, Sr, Ba and Pb), Pb(Zr0.53Ti0.47)O3 and Pb0.92La0.08(Zr0.65Ti0.35)0.98O3 have been prepared by the combustion of an aqueous solution, containing stoichio-metric amounts of the corresponding metal nitrate and tetraformyl triazine mixture, at 350 °C for a few minutes. The combustion-derived dielectric oxides are fine and have a large surface area (12–30 m2g–1). The powders, when pelletized and sintered at 1200°C for 1 h achieved a 92–95% theoretical density.
