Harrison-Meldola Memorial Prize 2014 Lecture by Dr Erwin Reisner

8 December 2014, Reading, United Kingdom

Introduction
This event is part of the UK lecture tour by Dr Erwin Reisner.

Talk title: “Combining Concepts from Homogenous and Heterogeneous catalysis for Solar Fuel Synthesis"

Department of Chemistry, University of Reading. Monday 8th December 2014, 3.30-5pm.

Talk abstract: Artificial photosynthesis is a chemical process that captures and stores the energy from sunlight in a chemical fuel (a so called solar fuel). This renewable process requires the finely tuned combination of light absorption, charge separation and chemical catalysis, which is superbly coupled in natural photosynthesis but much less so by artificial systems. This presentation will summarise our recent progress in developing cross-disciplinary approaches to interface molecular catalysts with semiconductor materials to photo-split water as a sustainable route to the energy vector hydrogen.
