2nd Asian-European Symposium on Organic Optoelectronics

27 - 29 October 2015, Edinburgh, United Kingdom

Introduction
2015 is the International Year of Light and light-based technologies for sustainable development and the Royal Society of Chemistry is delighted to mark this special occasion by organising the 2nd Asian-European Symposium on Organic Optoelectronics which will take place in Edinburgh in October 2015. Based on the success of the first Asian-European symposium on organic optoelectronics in Beijing, we are delighted to bring the second instalment of this important meeting to the UK.

This symposium provides an ideal forum to discuss the tremendous progress in the areas of plastic electronics and organic optoelectronic devices such as organic light emitting diodes, organic solar cells including dye-sensitized and perovskites solar cells, organic semiconductors, transistors and other flexible devices such as flexible displays. We wish to cover all aspects of molecular electronics from fundamental research such as materials design and engineering, physical properties and modelling studies, to optimisation of processes and commercial applications. We hope that the symposium will help to identify the next generation of emerging organoelectronics and the challenges facing this field.

We expect participation from leading scientists from academia, government, and industry. Aiming to share best practice, expertise and identify collaboration opportunities, the talks will involve chemists, physicists, engineers and materials scientists both from academia and industry. The symposium will take place over three days and include scientists from several countries in Asia and Europe. The Royal Society of Chemistry has partnered with the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) for this event, with additional support from the Singapore National Institute of Chemistry.

Flash Presentations

We would like to encourage postdocs, research fellows and early career scientists in both academia and industry to submit an abstract for a 10-min oral presentation based on their work. The scientific advisory committee will select the top 5 abstracts for an opportunity to present orally in front of an international audience. Please follow our online procedures for the ‘submission of abstracts’ and please mark clearly if you wish to be considered for a flash presentation or a poster presentation or both. Successful flash presenters should send their final powerpoint slides (maximum of 10 slides) by the 1 October 2015. A prize will be awarded for the best oral presentation. The closing date for flash presentation abstract submissions is August 28th

Posters

Students and young researchers attending the meeting are encouraged to present a poster. Please follow our online procedures for the ‘submission of abstracts’ and please mark clearly if you wish to be considered for a poster presentation only. Prizes will be awarded for the best posters. The closing date for poster abstract submissions is 28 August 2015

Abstract submission and registration will open in June 2015
