EMBO | EMBL Symposium: New Model Systems for Linking Evolution and Ecology

8 - 11 May 2016, Heidelberg, Germany

Introduction
New sequencing-based methods are bridging the gap between modern genetics and systems-level ecological studies. This is paralleled by dramatic improvements in imaging and remote sensing, with which one can capture both spatial and temporal components of dynamic interactions between individuals and their natural environment.

Aims

Areas of discussion will be the right balance between generating large volumes of data and the depth of scientific questions to be addressed. An important aim is the development of biological concepts for comparative analysis and experimental strategies for functional analysis that optimally exploit the advances in data collection.
