This seminar will be an opportunity to assess policy priorities for improving outcomes in diabetes care.

Following the launch of the NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme, delegates will consider early progress of demonstrator sites in identifying and referring those at risk of type 2 diabetes, as well as the developing role of NICE guidelines in prevention and treatment.

Further sessions focus on partnership working between the NHS and industry, the impact of new models of care in integrating diabetes services, and effectively utilising National Diabetes Inpatient Audit data to improve hospital care.

We are delighted to include at this seminar keynote addresses from Professor Mark Baker, Director, Centre for Clinical Practice, NICE; Dr Jim O'Brien, National Programme Director, NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme, Public Health England and Professor Jonathan Valabhji, National Clinical Director for Obesity and Diabetes, NHS England.

Simon Doble, Senior Commissioning Manager, Birmingham South Central Demonstrator Site; Robin Hewings, Head of Policy, Diabetes UK; Dr Stephen Lawrence, Clinical Lead for Diabetes, Royal College of General Practitioners and Dr Richard Mendelsohn, Clinical Head of Commissioning, Birmingham South Central Demonstrator Site have also agreed to speak.
