Introduction
Theory and Practice of Solid Phase Extraction (SPE)

This short course will explain how to develop robust, efficient solid-phase extraction methods. The main modes of separation in SPE will be described, as well as the important factors to consider during method development in relation to the analyte and the matrix. The best approach for selecting and optimising experimental conditions will be explained, allowing analysts to move quickly through method development to successful validation.

Normal-phase, reversed-phase, ion-exchange and mixed-mode phases
Chemistry of the analyte and matrix
The SPE process – conditioning, loading, rinsing, drying and elution
