Introduction

Outline Agenda

The meeting will run from 10:30am - 4:00pm and will include the following topics:

1. University admissions and A-level reform
Presentations from both UCAS and Ofqual on their activities, evidence and research relating to admissions and A-level reform. There will be opportunity for Q & A and discussion.
  • UCAS perspective - Ben Jordan (Senior Policy Executive)
  • Ofqual perspective – Stuart Cadwallader (Research Fellow) & Sarah Old (Senior Manager, General Qualifications)
 
2. Apprenticeships Levy and Degree Apprenticeships
An explanation of the Apprenticeship Levy, including examples of the chemistry degree apprenticeship education route.  
 
3. Quality in Higher Education
A series of presentations that related to quality in higher education, including:
  • Accreditation update - Toby Underwood (Accreditation Manager, Royal Society of Chemistry)
  • HEA External Examining project – Geoff Stoakes (Head of Special Projects, HEA)
  • Update on the Teaching Excellence Framework

 
4. Supporting teaching and learning
An update on Royal Society of Chemistry activities.
