Chemistry; Tackling Global Challenges

22 November 2017 09:15-16:00, Wolverhampton, United Kingdom

Introduction
“Chemistry; Tackling Global Challenges” is funded by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and takes place during the RSC’s Chemistry Week. The programme will consist of experiments and short talks which explore how chemistry can be applied to overcome challenges which affect people all over the world. For example we will demonstrate how carbon can be used for water treatment and discuss applications of mass spectrometry. The experiments will be very hands on, students will work in small groups of two or three and students will have the opportunity to use equipment not usually available in schools.

The event will run from 9.15 am until 4.00 pm and refreshments will be provided. Drinks and biscuits will be provided at registration and each student will be given a £5 lunch voucher to spend on campus. Tickets are allocated on a first come first served basis - each school or college can book a maximum of 20 tickets.
