Rideal Conference 2018

26 March 2018 13:50 - 28 March 2018 12:50, Abingdon, United Kingdom

Introduction

"Designing new catalytic processes to address global challenges"

The Rideal Conference 2018 will be held at The Cosener’s House, Abingdon, Oxfordshire from Monday 26th – Wednesday 28th March 2018 with the theme of "Designing new catalytic processes to address global challenges."

The conference is organized in five orals and a poster session, each one with a specific topic:
1. Sustainable Catalytic Reaction Engineering
2. Designing new nanomaterials as effective catalysts
3. Computational methods for catalysts design
4. Integrated Chemo/Bio-Catalysis
5. In situ studies of catalysis

It brings together chemists, chemical engineers and physicists interested in the fundamentals and application of catalysis, and heterogeneous catalysis in particular. Speakers include: Prof. Joris Thybaut (Ghent), Prof. Wataru Ueda (Kanagawa), Prof. Gianfranco Pacchioni (Università Milano-Bicocca), Prof. John Woodley (DTU), Prof. Angelika Brückner (LIKAT Rostock), Prof. Freek Kapteijn (Delft), Dr Anton Kiss (Manchester/Twente), Prof. Ian Metcalfe (Newcastle), Prof. Andy Beale (UCL), Dr Laura Torente (Cambridge), Dr Ceri Hammond (Cardiff), Dr Evgeny Pidko (Delft University of Technology/ ITMO University), Prof Adrian Mulholland (Bristol), Dr Sílvia Osuna (University of Girona), Prof Jim Naismith (Director, RCaH), Prof. Wolfgang Kroutil (University of Graz), Prof. Jason Micklefield (Manchester), Prof. Jeroen van Bokhoven (PSI), Dr Simon Kondrat (Loughborough) and Dr Gareth Whiting (Utrecht).

One of the aims of the meeting is to allow young researchers and students a unique platform to get firsthand information from world-renowned scientists on topics of prime importance in catalysis. There are also many opportunities for young researchers and students to get involved and a chance to have their work featured in the poster session with three poster prizes sponsored by RSC and Finden Ltd.

"A Rideal Conference is a wonderful opportunity to discuss the really exciting areas of catalysis. Each meeting has its own unique features but for me the key aspect is the emphasis that is put on the discussion of new catalysis and new techniques." ~ Prof. Graham Hutchings

Spaces are limited to 80 places so book now to avoid disappointment. For the full programme and to register please visit the event website.
