Leadership in Higher Education – realising the potential of researchers

17 April 2018 12:30-13:30, United Kingdom

Introduction
A webinar presented by Clare Viney, CEO CRAC/Vitae. There has never been a more challenging time to be a researcher. With rapid and unpredictable change in policy contexts, the rise of open research, as well as the sector’s increasing reliance on research staff employed on fixed term contracts, researchers are now required to constantly adapt to ensure both their research and their career remain on track—often at the expense of their work/life balance or wellbeing. Clare will look at some of the big questions facing the research community:
  • How do we prepare researchers for an unknown future?
  • What research cultures, behaviours and mindsets do we need?
  • How do we ensure the UK maintains its world leading position in research and innovation?
  • What can we learn from other sectors when developing talent and leadership?
