Introduction
In 2018 UK tax revenue totalled ca. £700 billion. This money is essential to pay for the services we all enjoy as a society. Almost £60 billion of the revenue came from Excise duties on fuel, tobacco and alcohol.
Chemistry plays a vital role in each of these sectors and this evening’s presentations will explain how the chemical sciences are involved in businesses that are responsible for about 10% of our national revenue.

Talks by Bombay Sapphire, BP, British Americak Tobacco, Flack Manor Brewery and Hambledon Wineyards wil explain the role chemistry plays in these industries.
