Cancelled: Schools' Analyst Competition Regional Heat - North of Tyne

2 April 2020 16:30-19:30, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom

Introduction
The Schools Analyst Competition is an annual national competition coordinated by the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Analytical Division. This heat is open to year 12 students from schools in North Tyneside and Northumberland, and decides who represents our area at the National Final in June 2020.

The competition is an opportunity for students to use analytical equipment not usually available in schools, gain additional practical experience and apply their knowledge of chemistry to solve problems. Instructions will be given and students will be supervised but help from staff will be limited to ensure a fair competition. The competition is open to those currently studying AS (year 12) chemistry or equivalent. Each team will consist of 3 students from the same school or college. A maximum of 3 teams are allowed from each school or college. At least one teacher is required to accompany the students from their school or college. Places are allocated on a first come first served basis.

The winner of this heat will compete in the competition final at Kingston University in June 2020. Prizes (in the form of gift vouchers) will be awarded to individual students and schools whose teams are placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in this regional heat
