Introduction
Challenges in Chemical Biology was the second event in the International Symposia on Advancing the Chemical Sciences (ISACS) series for 2011. 

Building on the success of the inaugural 2010 meetings held in San Francisco, Budapest and Hong Kong, the conference brought together exceptional researchers - all leading names in the chemical biology field - for an outstanding plenary programme, complemented by contributed talks and extensive poster sessions. 

The conference reviewed current research developments in chemical biology highlighted future challenges, covering:
