German chemist Fritz Haber died on this day in 1934

He was awarded the 1918 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his method of creating ammonia from nitrogen (N₂) and hydrogen (H₂). This discovery is not only important for fertilisers but also explosives. He has since been described as the father of chemical warfare.
