English inventor Frederick Walton was born on this day in 1834

With his 88 patents, he was a prolific inventor. His inventions included artificial leather, distillation, plastics and flexible metal tubing. He also developed linoleum (often abbreviated to lino) after observing the plastic dried surface layer of a flaxseed oil-based paint.
