Learning Objectives On completion of this activity you should be able to: - use appropriate language to describe acid-base behaviour - Use Kw, Ka and relevant assumptions to calculate pH or [H++] for strong and weak acids - appreciate some of the factors that determine the pKa of organic acids and bases - calculate the pH of a buffer solution

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This collection of Open Educational Resources (OERs) have been designed for first year undergraduates and revisits ideas from pre-university. It also begins to show how key concepts are applied early on in an undergraduate university course in chemistry. The OERs were created in Articulate and are made available as an interactive learning object for your virtual learning environment. These resources were developed by Declan Fleming, RSC School Teacher Fellow 2010-2011 at the University of Bath, produced as part of the National HE STEM Programme
