This is a problem-based case study looks at the isolation, identification and synthesis of a pharmaceutical drug. Students are involved in screening natural herbal remedies for their active ingredients.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The students consider short-term experiments that would be required to isolate and identify the active ingredient in some dried leaves from Malaysia. Students then propose longer-term experiments required to bring the drug to the market place including costing exercises.
