Environmental Science: Nano is an international journal focusing on nanomaterial interactions with biological and environmental systems.

Launched in 2014, Environmental Science: Nano is the home for high-impact work on nanomaterial interactions with biological and environmental systems as well as the sustainable design, development and use of nanotechnologies. The research we publish covers all aspects of the benefits and implications of nanoscience on environmental health and safety and the sustainable design, development and use of nanotechnology within the environment.

We publish 6 issues a year and each article includes a nano impact statement, clearly defining the importance of the research by answering the following questions:

(1) What is the problem?
(2) Why is it important?
(3) What is the key finding?
(4) How can this be generalised?
(5) What is the Nano impact?

In addition to original research papers, we also publish a variety of topical review articles. Recent review articles can be found in our online collection. Perspectives are a particularly interesting article type as they are thought provoking articles authored by leading scientists, often taking a philosophical look at a particular topic and providing insight on how the field has developed and potential future directions for research.

Recently achieving a first Impact Factor of 5.896, the journal is placed within the top 10 journals in the environmental sciences category according to Journal Citation Reports. Journal Citations Reports measures research influence and impact at a journal/category level allowing direct comparisons of titles within similar subject areas.

Environmental Science: Nano is a high quality journal that is a must read for all working in the area of sustainable nanotechnology. All content published during 2014 and 2015 is free to access upon registration, so browse our content to find out more!

This journal is part of our Environmental Science portfolio, complemented by our sister journals, Environmental Science: Processes & Impacts, and Environmental Science: Water Research & Technology; all three journals are publishing excellent work relevant to the environmental sciences community.
