Our work

As a not-for-profit organisation and the largest non-governmental funder of chemistry education in the UK, we exist to support you – for the benefit of science and the scientific community.

We believe everyone should have access to a high-quality chemistry education that’s engaging, stimulating and relevant. That’s why we’re committed to:

  • supporting the teachers inspiring future generations of scientists
  • speaking up to influence the people making the decisions that affect us all.

Policy

Our education policy team has two main aims: first, to ensure a consistent supply of chemistry educators in the future, through policy work relating to the recruitment, retention and development of specialist chemistry teachers. And second, to influence the advancement of the chemistry curriculum, along with related assessment and qualifications.

Support

Our regional teams of Education Coordinators and Programme Managers work to support all chemistry teachers in all settings. Based throughout the UK and Ireland, they are dedicated to helping you provide engaging and inspiring chemistry lessons for all your students. They also enlist and enable our members to share their expertise with students at various events.

Our education publishing team supports teaching and learning with services and resources including Teach Chemistry, Education in Chemistry, CPD resources and schools engagement programmes.
