Suggested activity use

This activity could be used as a starter or plenary exercise when dealing with the topic of electricity. This recording helps explain why batteries go flat, whilst also giving a simple explanation of electricity as a flow of electrons.

Practical considerations

Some children may find it difficult to visualise what is being said, so visual images may need to be provided alongside the activity to aid their understanding.

Some children may struggle with the more advanced vocabulary, such as electron, cathode and anode, may require additional explanations.
