In order to add information into this template, you will need to understand the parameters to be added. Parameters are separated by vertical bars, {{Template|Parameter1=Yes|Parameter2=Demo|etc.}}. Each section has its own template, but only two require you to enter information, as follows:

LabData

This has six parameters:

  • Duration: Time that the experiment takes.
    • Enter Duration=45 mins or similar. The default is Duration=Not known
  • No. of parts: Some are multi-part experiments, so you can show this here.
    • Enter NoParts=2 for a two-part expt, etc. The default is NoParts=1
  • Student level: Typically this is Introductory (ages up to 14), Intermediate (ages up to 16), Advanced (ages up to 18) or University (Undergraduate & beyond).
    • Enter Level=Intermediate or similar. If suitable for several level, enter Level=Introductory, intermediate. Default is Level=Not known
  • Topic: This could be oxidation & reduction, alcohols, etc. If the experiment is from Practical Chemistry, this would be the categories.
    • Enter Topic=Oxidation and reduction, metals By default, Topic=Not known
  • Type (demo, or student lab): Just to show if the experiment is for students to do themselves, or if it's a demo by the teacher, or something else.
    • Enter Type=Demo or Type=Student practical or other. By default. Type=Not known.
  • PPE: Personal protective equipment to be used by the person conducting the experiment.
    • Enter None or Goggles and gloves and similar. By default, PPE=See teacher notes.

LabClassification

This has three parameters:

  • RSC Practical Chemistry?: This indicates if the lab is part of the RSC's "Practical Chemistry" collection, a published collection found at http://www.practicalchemistry.org/.
    • Enter PractChem=Yes or PractChem=No (Default = PractChem=No)
  • Health & Safety reviewed?: Only put SafetyReview=Yes if an RSC Health & Safety
    • Enter SafetyReview=Yes or SafetyReview=No; if you know the month in which it was done, enter that as SafetyReview=Jun 2009 or similar. (Default = SafetyReview=No)
  • Published?: Only put Published=Yes if this experiment has been approved by the RSC ShareChemistry lab review process.
    • Enter Published=Yes or Published=No (Default = Published=No)

Image

If you have an image that is appropriate as an "iconic image" or ideal video for this experiment, you may place it in the top part of the template as indicated by the hidden comment. If the image is inside this wiki or inside Wikimedia Commons, you may do this with wiki markup similar to: [[File:PictureName.jpg|200px|right|Description of picture]].
