Dr Sheilah Hamilton is a forensic scientist and fire investigator with more than 45 years' relevant experience gained mostly in Hong Kong but also in the UK and Australia. She obtained her BSc (Hons) degree in Chemistry from the University of Glasgow and her Masters and PhD degrees from the University of Hong Kong.
After 20 years as a forensic scientist in the Hong Kong Government Laboratory and the State Forensic Laboratory in South Australia, she established Forensic Focus in 1989, which was the first independent forensic science consultancy in Hong Kong.
Since 1969 she has attended hundreds of crime and fire scenes in different parts of Asia and the UK, and acted as an expert witness on many occasions for both the Prosecution and the Defence.
She has written extensively about forensic science, fire investigation and security matters, and also lectured students at the University of Hong Kong, the City University of Hong Kong, the University of South Wales, the (Royal) Hong Kong Police, the Law Society of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Bar Association and ASIS International.
Since 2006 she has been the external examiner of the Fire Science and Fire Investigation course held annually at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and in 2013 she was made a Life Member of ASIS International.
