[Ti₆C]Cl₁₄ is obtained as black, single crystals through metallothermic reduction of titanium(III) chloride with sodium in the presence of a carbon source and crystallizes isostructurally with [Zr₆C]Cl₁₄ and [Nb₆]Cl₁₄.
