By virtue of simple one donor variations of O₂S₂X-donor macrocycles ( L¹: XS, L²: XO and L³: XNH) towards silver(I) perchlorates, four supramolecular complexes ( 1–3) with different topologies have been isolated; L¹ afforded solvent- and anion-free sandwich complex ( 1), otherwise L² and L³ gave the dimeric ( 2a), 1-D polymeric ( 2b), and tetrameric bowl-type ( 3) complexes with solvent or anion coordination.
