Science Question Time - the future of drugs
26 October 2011

Where will our new medical discoveries come from? What will they do, and how? How might national public policy, local research and multi-national business work together to best serve patients? These were some of the questions tackled by the panel at the event on Tuesday 25 October 2011, which included David Fox - Science Associate at the RSC.
Also on the panel were Becky Purvis - Head of Policy at the Association of Medical Research Charities, Ilina Singh - Reader in Bioethics and Society at the London School of Economics and Political Science, and James Peach - Director of Stratified Medicine at Cancer Research UK. Clive Page, Professor of Pharmacology at King's College London, chaired the discussion.
Discussions ranged from the need for an open innovation model, multidisciplinary collaboration, validation of biological targets, and appropriate financial reimbursement for the future of drug discovery to personalised medicine and cognitive enhancing drugs.
