RSC - Advancing the Chemical Sciences

Science Activities

Direct Assistance by the RSC

The RSC provides direct assistance to MPs (including all Link MPs) whenever the occasion arises. This can include:

  • background briefs for Ministerial Statements or general debates in the Commons on scientific issues;
  • briefings for use in the Committee or report stages of legislation;
  • personal assistance for Parliamentary Questions and Adjournment debates; and
  • assistance for local constituency offices.

The RSC also provides evidence (written and oral) to relevant House of Commons Select Committee inquiries. Recent submissions have included focussed on nuclear energy, higher education and international development.

Similarly, the RSC is very pleased to engage with All Party Groups on scientific topics, including economic and educational issues.

House of Lords

The RSC seeks to provide the same level of service to the House of Lords. The RSC also works with selected Peers (from all parties and from cross-bench) on specific occasions, and the RSC also provides written and/or oral evidence to House of Lords Select Committee inquiries.

If you are an MP or a Peer and require information relating to the chemical sciences, please contact Lorraine Martin.
