A4 portrait product and services ads

This advert style is used to promote RSC products like journals and books. They are likely to appear on the back covers of RSC journals, but may be used in other A4 publications. Their basic vertical grid is based on thirds above the branding strip.

They should always use a strong, solid background colour, with the logo reversed out. The branding strip may carry a relevant website address on the right only. Images should not bleed off the page edge.

Adverts are among the most difficult materials to produce. The visual feel should naturally reflect the product which is being promoted (in the examples shown below promoting a journal they use the Journal typeface from the masthead and the front cover image of the journal).

Body copy length should be kept as short as possible so that the visual elements of the page are uncluttered and prominent.
