Live phase contrast confocal imaging of a single mitotic cell showing equal partitioning of 3.2 µm silicon particles to daughter cells, with progeny receiving either two or one particles. The daughter cell receiving only one microparticle internalizes a second particle while the mitotic event in still occuring, leading to two daughter cells with two intenalized microparticles per cell.
