It was stated in this paper that complexes of Group 1 metals with carbenes were unknown. Professor G. Boche, however, has drawn to the authors' attention some structural data for a Li-carbene complex (G. Boche, C. Hilf, K. Harms, M. Marsch and J. C. W. Lohrenz, Angew. Chem., Int. Ed. Engl., 1995, 34, 487). This structure (data from A. J. Arduengo and M. Tamm, see footnote 10) and other similar Li complexes have been disclosed at conferences but remain unpublished and are therefore not in databases. The authors very much regret this significant omission.
