Chem. Commun., 2000, 2143 (DOI: 10.1039/b006758j). Amendment published 29th January 2001.

The authors of this paper thank J. F. Stoddart for pointing out that a ‘Janus [2]rotaxane’ is a type of ‘[c2]daisy chain’ and apologise for not referring to the work of S. J. Rowan, S. J. Cantrill, J. F. Stoddart, A. J. P. White and D. J. Williams who reported a rotaxane of this type in Org. Lett., 2000, 2, 759. The authors also point out that an additional rotaxane of this type was reported while their work was in press: M. C. Jimenez, C. Dietrich-Buchecker and J.-P. Sauvage, Angew. Chem., Int. Ed., 2000, 39, 3284.

The Royal Society of Chemistry apologises for these errors and any consequent inconvenience to authors and readers.
