While the initial catalytic performances of silica-supported silicotungstic acid are high in the glycerol dehydration reaction, they rapidly decrease with time on stream and the acrolein yield quickly decreases. However, by using a zirconia-grafted SBA-15 instead of bare SBA-15 as a support, we obtained a remarkable improvement in the acrolein yield observed after 24 h on stream (i.e., 69% vs. 24%, respectively).
