Here we see inside the autoclave whilst the stirrer unit is activated. The internal pressure and temperature are such that the carbon dioxide is currently supercritical. The rippling effect you see around the stirrer is the supercritical CO2 behaving like a liquid, though of course it also has gas like properties!
