The sentence that appears in the section titled 'Bilayers on gold substrates' and reads 'Trehalose glasses were formed on gold substrates by evaporating a trehalose solution (100 mM trehalose in 100% ethanol) for 16-24 h in the dark at 100 °C' should be replaced by the following sentence:
'Trehalose glasses were formed on gold substrates by evaporating a trehalose solution (10 mM trehalose in 90% ethanol) for 16-24 h in the dark at 100 °C.'
