Interception of quorum sensing in Staphylococcus aureus: a new niche for peptidomimetics

Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry, 2006, 4, 1441–1445 (DOI: 10.1039/b517681f)   Amendment published 12th April 2006

The authors regret the following error:

The sentence in the section entitled, Synthesis and SAR studies of AIPs that reads:

“A solid-phase synthetic route to AIPs utilizing the popular N-Fmoc strategy has yet to be reported.”

should read:

“A robust solid-phase synthetic route to AIPs utilizing the popular N-Fmoc strategy has yet to be reported.”

This omission clearly alters the meaning of the sentence. We note that significant progress has been made in the development of solid-phase N-Fmoc strategies for the synthesis of S. aureus AIPs (reported in the original ref. 12). Thus far, these methods have been described by the authors to be less robust than solid-phase N-Boc/Bz strategies, due to the presence of sterically demanding side chain protecting groups that are left in place during cyclization of the linear peptides (see review article, original ref. 8).

The Royal Society of Chemistry apologises for this error and any consequent inconvenience to authors and readers.
