In the section "Preparation of GO–CS hydrogels" in the Experimental section, some concentration values should be changed as follows (changes are underlined for clarity):

A CS stock solution with a concentration of 10 mg mL-1 was prepared by dissolving 1 g of CS in 100 mL of 2.5% (v/v) aqueous acetic acid, and stirring overnight. GO–CS hydrogels were prepared with two methods. In Method I, various amounts of GO suspension were added to 0.25 mL CS (5 mg mL-1) and the mixtures were shaken violently for 10 s to form a hydrogel. The formation of the gel was confirmed by a tube inversion method. To make the gelation process complete, the hydrogels were further treated by sonication for 10 min. The final hydrogels contained 5 mg mL-1 GO and various amounts of CS. Method II was used to prepare the GO–CS hydrogel in situ in a column. In Method II, 0.6 mL NaOH (0.5 mol L-1) was added to the GO suspension, then 0.25 mL CS solution (5 mg mL-1) was mixed with the above suspension by violent shaking, yielding a viscous blend solution.
