Electronic Laboratory Notebooks - the opinions of physical chemists

The use of Electronic Laboratory Notebooks (ELNs) is increasing. Faraday Division Council were interested to find out the extent of use and attitudes towards ELNs within the physical chemistry community.

We interviewed 20 people in academia at a range of career stages about their views on the following four topics:

  1. Problems with current ways of working
  2. User experiences of ELNs
  3. Attitudes to data sharing
  4. Suggested requirements for development of ELNs

You can find out more about the results of our research in the powerpoint presentation.
