We've put together a list of Frequently Asked Questions, to help you understand how our eCommerce works and hopefully make your visit with us a satisfying one. We'll update this list occasionally to reflect the feedback of our customers.

Ordering

  •    How do I order online? Please browse and add titles to your basket and then checkout. You will be asked to 'Sign In', create an account or to proceed to payment. Complete your delivery details as instructed, enter your payment details and confirm your billing address. You are then asked to confirm your order. Your credit or debit card payment is then authorised and your order is confirmed.
    You should receive an email confirming your order. If it doesn't appear in your inbox, please check your junk mail folder in case it has ended up there by accident
  •    My delivery address is outside of Europe, how do I place an online order? Ensure you select the correct Country when entering your address.
  •    I made a mistake in my online order! To amend or cancel a completed online order, please contact Customer Services.

  •    There was an error message while I was completing my order online, what do I do? This depends on the error message; if you were able to complete the order and you have received the confirmation email then you should receive your items as requested. If you experienced problems while placing an order, please contact Customer Services.

  •    What countries do you sell to? We sell to all countries, however due to United Kingdom Sanctions, embargoes and restrictions we are not able to proceed to sell any item to the following:
    • Belarus
    • Cuba
    • Iran
    • Myanmar (Burma)
    • North Korea
    • Sudan
    • Syria
    • South Sudan

Delivery

  •    How is my postage calculated? There is a postage and handling charge of £ 3.50 per physical item ordered up to a maximum postage charge of £ 14.00
  •    I have not received my order in the delivery time stated - how can I check the order status? Please contact Customer Services and provide us with the details of your order and your order number.

  •    How can I report a problem with a delivery I have received? Please contact Customer Services and provide us with the details of your order, your order number and details of the problem

  •    I have not received delivery of my article PDF? PDF's are accessed online and no physical delivery will be dispatched. You can access your PDF via your confirmation email. If you have not received the confirmation email, please check your junk mail folder and if it's not there contact Customer Services.

  •    How do I return an item? Please contact Customer Services and provide us with the details of your order, your order number and details of the problem

Security & Privacy

  •    Is it safe to order online? Yes. We use a secure, fully encrypted server to transmit and receive your details.
  •    Are my Credit Card details stored at the RSC? No, we do not keep / store any credit card details at the RSC. When you proceed to payment you will be redirected to WorldPay's secure site to enter your card details – WorldPay will not store credit card details, therefore you will be asked to enter this information every time you visit the RSC eCommerce site.

Discounts / Promotion Codes

  •    Where do I enter a discount / promotion code? You can enter a discount or promotion code in 'My Basket' when you confirm your order.
  •    Can I apply more than one discount /promotion code to an order? Only one discount per transaction, the highest discount will be applied.
  •    The discount code has expired. Can I still use it? If the discount or promotion code end date has passed then it can no longer be used.
  •    How do I claim my Members Discount? You will be required to sign in or add your Member ID.
  •    How do I claim my Author/Editor Discount? Authors/Editors/Referees are entitled to a 25% discount on book orders. You can enter a discount or promotion code in 'My Basket' when you confirm your order. If you do not have a promotion code please contact books@rsc.org to receive this.

Payment

  •    What are my payment options? We accept payment by the following credit and debit cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Visa Debit, Solo and Maestro, PayPal. We also recognise local payment cards depending on your Country.
  •    Where can I find the security code on my card? The card security code is a unique three or four-digit number printed on your debit/credit card. This will either be a 3 digit code printed at the top of the signature strip on the reverse of the card or in the case of Amex a 4digit number printed on the front of the card, above the account number.
