Advice on events that you are hosting or planning
Until 31 August 2020
Prioritising the safety and wellbeing of our staff, volunteers and members, we are asking you to cancel or postpone all RSC events until 1 September (unless they can be held online). During this period we will also be extending the closures of our offices in London and Cambridge, with our teams continuing to support you remotely from home. A number of our member-led events have been very successfully adapted to be held online, and our teams will continue to support you to do this where appropriate (see below).
Closure of Burlington House
In order to provide you with certainty, we have also taken the decision to close Burlington House to the public and to not host any events there until 1 January 2021. For any groups who have meetings or events planned in Burlington House, our hospitality team will be in touch directly to discuss moving or cancelling your booking.
From 1 September until 31 December 2020
We strongly recommend that you consider cancelling, postponing, or adapting all other events held from September until the end of the year. This aligns with the approach we have taken for all staff-led events and the closure of Burlington House. We do not expect staff or volunteers to attend or run events other than by virtual means, and we hope that this guidance provides additional clarity and reassurance for those who were uncertain whether their event should go ahead this year. We will leave the decision up to the relevant committees and event organisers at this stage (for events planned after 31 August), but of course, as the advice with Covid-19 and social distancing evolves, the RSC may need to adopt a stronger positon in due course.
If you do plan to hold any events online, please contact the networks team for further information about our online meeting and webinar resources and dedicated accounts available for use by our member networks. We appreciate that there are a number of online meeting solutions available, which offer different functionality. We ask that you do not use any paid-for services without first consulting with RSC staff.
Support from our teams
The Networks team are, as always, available to talk through any concerns you might have and to support with communications. We welcome any ongoing feedback on the challenges you are facing and the support available to you, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch should you need to.
We sincerely thank you for your continued support and understanding during this difficult period.
