Weizmann Institute of Science agree Read & Publish deal with Royal Society of Chemistry
We have agreed a new Read & Publish deal with the Weizmann Institute of Science, in Israel. The agreement is for an initial one-year pilot, with the opportunity to extend in future.
Royal Society of Chemistry Director of Sales & Marketing, Stephen Rumbelow, welcomed the news, saying: "We are proud that the Weizmann Institute of Science have chosen to join our growing Read & Publish community, with over 140 customers from 20 countries now adopting such agreements with the Royal Society of Chemistry. Scientific endeavour knows no borders, so this agreement means we can continue to build on our long-standing relationship with the Israeli research community.
It is clear that there are real benefits to publishing open access, as articles published OA in Royal Society of Chemistry journals are downloaded 97% more than non-OA work, increasing reach, potential citations and impact for groundbreaking research. In the longer-term, our goal is to make the chemistry community’s transition to OA smooth, fair and sustainable, without compromising on quality or ethical standards.”
The Weizmann Institute of Science signed its first Read and Publish agreements with publishers during 2019 and 2020 and are pleased to add this new agreement with the Royal Society of Chemistry. Joan Kolarik, Library Director at The Weizmann Institute, commented:
“We are excited by the opportunities for greater exposure of our publications, easier compliance with funder mandates, and by the vastly simplified workflow made possible through such agreements. Libraries can and should play a central role in supporting and showcasing institutional research, and this agreement is just one more piece in completing that challenging puzzle.”
