Applied Advanced Analytical Chemistry leading to LRSC/MRSC, HNC Chemistry (with Maths and Physics)
The Harmonised Offshore Chemical Notification Format (HOCNF) is the dataset and application format which is used to regulate the chemicals used by the Offshore exploration and production industry in the OSPAR sector of the North Sea. I worked with the UK Offshore Chemical Regulations for over 12 years during the formative phase of the HOCNF development; have been part of the international group that developed the CHARM (Chemical Hazard and Risk Management) model and spent over 10 years working as a consultant to international companies and as a direct company representative making applications to the scheme. Such experience may be unique within this sector.
I run my own consultancy and assist a great number of national and international companies with applications to the various North Sea product application schemes which exist in the UK, the Netherlands, Denmark and Norway. I also have sufficient experience with REACH, SDS, COSHH and product labelling to advise on how they interact with these product registration schemes. Much of my work includes advice regarding product re-formulations to improve the environmental profile of chemicals used by the industry.
My training and initial work experience was as an instrumental analytical chemist as a Civil Servant with the Centre for the Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science where I was involved with the analysis of novel pollutants. I therefore have a complementary understanding of hydrocarbons, metals, surfactants, organo-tins and similar endocrine disrupters.
