Exam results day in Scotland
Today pupils across Scotland are finding out how they performed in their Nationals, Highers, and Advanced Highers. We take a look at this year’s results.
The number of entries overall for Nationals and Highers has decreased slightly, continuing an overall trend seen in previous years. However the number of entries for chemistry as a proportion of entries overall has remained almost the same as in 2017.
At Advanced Higher level, the number of entries overall has increased very slightly from 24,112 to 24,311, continuing a steady trend seen since 2015. The proportion of pupils taking chemistry at this level is 10.66%, a marginal increase on last year’s figure of 10.46%.
At Nationals level, there appears to be a relative decline in the uptake of National 4 in chemistry, while uptake of the National 5 in chemistry is holding steady as a proportion of total entries.
Grades have remained fairly steady across the board. At Higher level the proportion of A grades decreased by 2% and the proportion of C grades increased by 2%.
