The periodic table challenge continues...
175 minutes for chemistry
Year 8 student Miguel recites the entire periodic table from memory.
We recently shared the story of Saule and Matty, the Year 7 pair from Fairfield High School in Bristol who sent us an impressive video of them reciting the entire periodic table from memory.
Now we present Miguel, a Year 8 student who has taken on the challenge on his own. He told us why he decided to do it.
"Chemistry and the subatomic particle world fascinates me and learning the periodic table was something I wanted to challenge myself with. It also will help me in my GCSEs with knowing the structure of atoms since I learned them in order of atomic number.
"My science lessons inspired me, and a number of teachers here really praised my effort and made me feel like I achieved something amazing.
"At first I found it difficult but I used some tricks I saw on YouTube to help me memorise it."

175 minutes for chemistry
As the oldest chemical society in the world, we celebrated our 175th anniversary in 2016. We wanted to mark this milestone by recognising the important contributions our community makes to the chemical sciences. We asked our members and supporters to dedicate 175 minutes to chemistry in 2016 and share their stories with us. We featured these stories throughout the year on our website, in print in RSC News, and on social media using #time4chem.
