Fun with Chemistry
In partnership with the India branch of global company Merck Pharmaceuticals, we conducted a one-day science event constituting of science talks, chemistry experiment demonstrations and a science quiz for the secondary school students of National Public School, Bangalore on 24 September 2016.
Dr Ravindra Singh (Deputy General Manager, Merck India) motivated students with a talk on “Igniting Passion for Science: Chemistry in Everyday Life” followed by a science quiz for Class IX and Class X students conducted by Dr P Venkatesh (Scientist, Merck India).
This was followed by exciting chemistry experiments demonstrations including:
- red cabbage indicator
- volcano
- handkerchief fire
- boiling egg in cold water
- fire with water
- exothermic reaction
- endothermic reaction
- elephant’s toothpaste
Deccan Local Section president Dr V Peesapati was on hand to explain the chemistry behind each experiment.
