What is EnterprisePlus?

EnterprisePlus is our free dedicated service for micro, small and medium companies in the chemical sciences sector. It offers access to vital information, expertise and funding opportunities to help your business develop and grow.

What are qualifying companies? What are the eligibility criteria?

EnterprisePlus is available to 'for-profit' small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the field of Chemical Sciences which have a chemistry research and development component and are registered and located in the UK.

Companies solely providing consultancy or products to chemical companies (such as equipment suppliers) are not eligible to join.

Microenterprises, small and medium companies who are subsidiaries of other companies with a turnover less than £40 million are eligible to apply.

How do you classify an SME?

The SME sector is comprised of three categories: microenterprises, small and medium companies. The RSC defines:

Microenterprises as independent companies which employ fewer than 10 people and have an annual turnover (in the last financial year) of less than £2 million.

Small companies are independent companies employing up to 50 employees and generating an annual turnover (in the last financial year) less than £10 million.

Medium companies are independent companies employing up to 250 employees and generating an annual turnover (in the last financial year) less than £40 million.

This is in line with EU definitions.

My small company is based outside the UK. Can it join EnterprisePlus?

To join EnterprisePlus you must be based in the UK.

Is EnterprisePlus free of charge?

Independent companies with fewer than 250 employees and a turnover of less than £40 million can join free of charge.
