Attention is drawn to the fact that much of the language used in Chem. Commun., 2003, 276-277 is identical to that used in an earlier publication in the American Chemical Society's journal Organic Letters by Jyoti Tailor and Dennis G Hall (J Tailor and D G Hall, Org. Lett., 2000, 2, 3715-3718). When writing their Chemical Communications paper the authors recognised the quality of the style used by Tailor and Hall, and this resulted in the Chemical Communications paper being too similar in language. The authors sincerely apologise for this duplication of language.
The named authors, hereby wholly retract this Chemical Communication.
