A novel fluoride sensor based on fluorescence enhancement

In this article two relevant publications were omitted from the list of references: Chem. Commun., 2002, 770 and J. Am. Chem. Soc., 2003, 125, 12376. The earlier of these papers reported a fluorescence quenching anthracene based fluoride sensor, and the later paper reported the naphthalene based sensor described in the authors’ article. The authors wish to acknowledge the previously published work in this field. Their work on the naphthalene based sensor was first conceived in December 2002, and their data were collected prior to June, 2003. Nevertheless, the authors regret the failure to cite these important, previously published studies.
