The weighted R-factor wR and goodness of fit S are based on F^2^, conventional R-factors R are based on F, with F set to zero for negative F^2^. The threshold expression of F^2^ > 2sigma(F^2^) is used only for calculating R-factors(gt) etc. and is not relevant to the choice of reflections for refinement. R-factors based on F^2^ are statistically about twice as large as those based on F, and R- factors based on ALL data will be even larger. Apart from the identified methanol molecules (some with partial occupancy), there are other solvent-accessible voids in the structure, in which electron density could not be modelled with discrete atoms. These were treated with the SQUEEZE procedure of PLATON (A. L. Spek, J. Appl. Cryst. 2003, 36, 7-13). The contents of the voids remain unidentified and are not, therefore, included in the chemical formula. One methyl group (C59C/C60C) was resolved as disordered, with refined occupancies 0.526:0.474(14); no other atoms of the main molecules could be resolved into disorder components. Of the uncoordinated methanol molecules, two (containing O13S and O14S) have methyl groups apparently disordered over two positions each; equal occupancy was assumed. The methanol molecule O1S was refined to an occupancy of 0.526(14), because this molecule has an impossibly close contact to the minor component of the methyl group C60C. An atom O18S was located and refined, but no C atom could be found associated with it; if this is a methanol molecule, it is highly disordered. Disorder could not be resolved for other methanol molecules, though some displacement parameters are large and highly anisotropic. The assumed chemical formula includes a rounded contribution of uncoordinated methanol molecules (5.5 per Zn-porphyrin complex), close to the amount equivalent to the refined atoms.
