Chem. Commun., 2011, 47, 9639–9641 (DOI: 10.1039/C1CC13604F). Amendment published 25th October 2013.

The structure of probe 1 is not correct. Instead of a hydroxyl group in position 4, it should feature a chloro atom. The correct structure of probe 1 is depicted below.

The chloro compound can be used as a molecular probe for biogenic amines as described in the manuscript. However, minor adjustments to the concentrations need to be taken into account. The final concentration of probe 1 in the sensing experiments should be 9.3 µM instead of 10 µM. The final concentration of probe 1 in the reactions with i-butylamine and histamine should be 4.0 mM instead of 4.2 mM. Furthermore, reference 13 should read “J.-J. Chen, K.-T. Li and D.-Y. Yang, Org. Lett., 2011, 13, 1658.”

The Royal Society of Chemistry apologises for these errors and any consequent inconvenience to authors and readers.
